I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found it educational (historical) entertaining (characters, plot) and inspiring (spiritual insights and the character spiritual growth) The story connects you to people and places of that time period but has applications and lessons that are timeless. The inner struggles that Caroline faced and even some of her daily living problems are the same ones I still deal with. Things like growing in our faith, balancing family time with our callings and dreams, aging family members, letting go of our young adults While this story stands alone as a complete novel, it ties in seamlessly with Eliza's story and Julia's story. The themes of the circle of life, generational relationships, and importance of family histories are all woven into the series. The history is of special interest to anyone with connections to west central Florida, but also shows the bigger picture of what our country was and world was like in those years. I will probably even re-read this series because there are many things that I want revisit and contemplate.Product details

History came alive for me in this book. So fun to read and learn about one of my local towns.
I enjoyed Caroline's story just as I enjoyed this authors other books, A Heavenly Land Eliza's Story and A Heavenly Land Julia's Story.
Excellent book. Be sure to read all three in this series. This author makes the subject matter come to life. enjoyed them very, very much! Looking forward to more books by Cathy Slusser....
Another great story in this third and final book in the Heavenly Land series. I not only learned a lot about what life was like in the early days of Manatee County, I also found myself not wanting the stories to end because I felt I knew the people personally. Julia, Eliza and Caroline each had incredible lives and their stories are well worth reading. I look forward to more books by Cathy Slusser.
A comment is made in the Authors notes about comas which applies to more than the author. It's as if someone took a salt shaker full of comas and sprinkled them EVERYWHERE. I found I was so distracted by the punctuation or I should say overabundance of it and the poor sentence structure that I didnt get much out of the last chapters. It seems to have gotten worse as the book progressed. Read if you want a good story but that's all it is, not much in the literary department to recommend it.

The characters had true depth and realism along with their faith that made life bearable at its worst and a celebration at its best-a great read. I finished it in one reading and will look up more info about these historic Florida pioneers.
